From feeling lost to a rekindled connection with self

What Madison was struggling with

Life threw Madison a series of curveballs, leaving her feeling a bit lost. She had just tied the knot, transitioned from a career in ministry to the finance world, and was dealing with an autoimmune disorder that brought about some unexpected weight gain.

All of these changes had her feeling like she'd lost sight of herself. So, feeling a bit overwhelmed, Madison reached out, seeking some outside support to help her rediscover who she truly was.

How we transformed her style

After meeting with Madison, we set the goal of curating a professional wardrobe that was bold, approachable and fun to match her personality while also being appropriate for the generally conservative attire worn by those in her industry. In addition to finding clothes for her new body that were comfortable and fit well without sacrificing style.

Through my Style Reboot package, we cleaned out and organized her closet using her favorite pieces to discover what she really, truly loved and her not so favorite pieces to learn what she no longer enjoyed wearing. By thoughtfully evaluating all of her clothes, we determined why she had a hard time putting cute looks together - she was missing versatile items to help her bridge the gap between the bolder, unique styles she adored.

Madison had a great sense of style and was drawn toward fun clothes so it was easy for her to forget about the basics.

On to shopping!

Keeping in mind her bold, approachable and fun style goal along with her love of vintage, smart styles, I found new pieces for her that met all of our criteria from the wardrobe edit. Through the shopping trip, we filled in the gaps by adding key pieces to take her professional attire up a notch and help bring her seemingly disparate clothes together to create a cohesive wardrobe that she could easily mix and match.

To help her get comfortable knowing how to wear her new clothes, we finished with a style session and where I put together looks for various occasions in her life incorporating her new and current clothes.

The Transformation

Madison felt a renewed sense of excitement when it came to getting dressed in the morning. She couldn’t wait to show off her new clothes and became the go-to style inspiration at her office. Even better, as shared by Madison below, she rekindled her connection with herself and her style and was able to experience more confidence in all areas of her life.

Madison’s experience in her own words:

“I decided to work with Rachel because I was feeling a little lost. I needed extra support—an outside voice and an outside perspective—to put me back in touch with myself.

Rachel made sure that we were focusing on what actually matters when it comes to a building a wardrobe. We weren’t talking about sizing or brand names or tips and tricks to make me look thinner—we were talking about the deeper philosophies behind how I want to show up in the world. What I want to communicate. What clothes can do for me. How my clothes can serve the larger purpose of my style.

Rachel acted like a translator, taking pieces of what I know and what I like and turning them into a cohesive closet that I don’t think I ever could have put together myself! She really listened and reacted to my gut instincts, but she wasn’t afraid to share her own opinions or her expertise alongside them. She kept us committed to one mission and one mission only: expressing my style. That’s the beauty of this process—Rachel puts you first, even when you aren’t putting you first.

I know that I’m going to take some major learnings away from this process, and that I’ll be able to come back to Rachel in multiple different chapters of my life as I need to rekindle my connection with my style.”
